Parent Teacher Communication

  • In Kildangan NS parents are encouraged to develop close links with the school. By collaborating with class teachers and school leaders, parents can share the responsibility for educating their children.

    Parent/Teacher Meetings
These meetings are held in November and parents meet with class teachers on a one-to-one basis. The aims of these meetings are:
to let parents know how their children are doing in school
to inform teachers on how children are coping outside of school
to establish an ongoing relationship and communication with parents
to help teachers to get to know children better as individuals
to help children realise that home and school are working together

    Informal Meetings
The school encourages informal communication between teachers and parents.
It is important however that parents arrange a suitable time to speak with a class teacher.

Asking class teachers to speak at the class door is discouraged as the teacher cannot adequately supervise his/her class. It is also difficult to discuss sensitive matters in such an environment.

Informal meetings should occur by prior appointment before or after school.
